Brisbane River Flood Repairs

Other News

The Brisbane River flooded in March of 2022 and caused major damage. The water level reached 5.45 metres in Brisbane’s CBD, causing extensive damage to public infrastructure, private property and vehicles. Kaidawn Construction was there to help, providing civil contracting services to help repair and reinstate the damaged ferry terminals.

As we made our way through the suburbs of Brisbane, the damage was obvious. Roads were cut, houses had been flooded and residents were getting around by boat. The sound of chainsaws cutting up fallen trees was everywhere and power lines were down causing blackouts in many areas. It was a sad situation but you couldn’t help but feel for the people affected.

Fortunately, we live in a wonderful country where there is so much support for those who are experiencing hardship through no fault of their own, such as natural disasters like this one. There is no doubt that Brisbane will bounce back but it will take time and it will not be easy.

Our expertise in ferry terminal construction enabled us to act quickly to help in the clean up work and begin the required repairs, as the ones at South Bank were totally destroyed. We had unique equipment and systems that could fix these ferry terminals safely and were considered the go-to contractors for this work.

We are proud to have been able to help the Brisbane community in such a significant event.

The Kaidawn team did an excellent job in rebuilding the timber bridge that was burnt down in Kanangra. The project was completed on schedule and the quality was great and all aspects were in compliance with structural codes. We were so impressed with Kaidawns work we have selected them as a preferred supplier for InQuik bridge systems.
